"How long as it for you?" He leads them over to one of the sitting areas and half sits, half flops into one of the plush chairs. He'll catch his breath while Albus talks, then they can get to business once they've caught up.
"It has been seven years for me," Albus says, his voice almost dazed as he realizes exactly the length of time. It continues to be surreal, the gap between the time spent away and the time passed back in this city, where he was barely even gone.
Sitting in one of the chairs, he adds: "It is rather nice to have missed very little while I was away. I'm happy so many friendly faces are still here, I admit, even if it means being subject to this place."
"I understand the feeling, I felt the same when I got back." It's been months so he wouldn't expect Albus to remember even if he didn't have an extra seven years on top of it to think on. He pauses a moment, then leans in towards his friend. "I have been working on something though, or begun to. I know you just got back again recently but there's a chance we could change things around here."
"Have you now?" Dumbledore asks, his curiosity open in his expression. The idea of making changes is certainly an appealing one, given the cruelties of recent city events. Leaning in closer in turn, he asks, "And what sort of a project is it you might be working on?"
"Its twofold, but the crux of it is to gain control of the doors, or at least figure out how they work in order to find our own means, either of escape or preventing ourselves from being sent away. Once we have that, we have leverage against the Creator."
It's a wild idea of a plan, not even a full plan yet for his having just started on it, but there's a drive there that has been lacking even before he'd gone and returned again and Albus had done the same. Since the vision he'd received from the Solace tree just before Candleglow, Hawke's finally had a direction.
There is a light in Albus' eyes, one that speaks of intrigue and slowly whirling calculation behind his eyes. His expression is entirely intent, and there is no sense of hesitation when he answers.
"I think, if we were able to do such a thing, it would be quite the advantage for those of us kept here," he muses, his tone thoughtful and enthused. "It is a challenging idea, to be sure -- but fortune favors the bold, does it not?"
