[There is a long, pained pause, where Albus has to fight down a swell of pain in him. He has no partner and knows he never could take one again, but there is such a deep well of helpless fury at the idea of Gellert seeking to control him this way, even after Gellert had abandoned him so long ago.]

And why is that? Is that part of what you deem necessary for the greater good?

You are mine. [That is said plainly and without hesitation. If anyone else asks him the same question, they will receive the same answer. This is his territory.]

Despise me all you like, but that is the truth.

[His heart aches at those words, words he remembers hearing Gellert say to him once upon a time, when they had meant something very different and had carried so much weight in his soul.]

What a poor master I have, then, that only thinks of how best to slaughter me.

[His features darken - anger hiding the pain. He has gotten good at disguising the best part of himself behind his rage; his ambition. Even so, this is difficult.]

Come back to me and I will forgive you.

[Albus is quiet for a long, long moment, still not looking at Gellert. Eventually, he exhales slowly, wearing a wry smile.]

I don't believe you would.

Maybe I would have once, but not anymore.

[He lowers his voice, his tone heated so Albus doesn't miss his meaning:]

You are mistaken. I would lavish you with kindness and protection if you came to me.

[chambermusicandtenpins]

[Smiling bitterly, he says:]

We have thirty years worth of resentments built up in us. I hear it in you whenever we speak.

[Albus has his own, in truth, but they sit on him in a different way, a mix of anger and sadness and grief.]

[followorperish]

Mmm that does sound like it would lead to a wonderful reunion.

[Angry sex? Angry sex.]

You're just enticing me further, Albus.

[In spite of himself, Albus flushes red, glancing away from Gellert for a moment. He hadn't exactly expected such a forward response, and it shows in the way he stumbles to speak.]

Sex isn't quite the same thing as forgiveness, Gellert.

[Having the upper hand is a pleasant feeling, but there is more to it than that.]

But it is really nice, isn't it? Especially between us.

[Still burning bright red, Albus lets out a strained laugh, murmuring:]

You would try to seduce me after threatening me, Gellert?

[followorperish]

One needn't have anything to do with the other.

[Albus is still very attractive and, well, the body does have needs.]

[chambermusicandtenpins]

[Still glancing away, he tries to force his voice steady even while the color in his face remains.]

You overestimate how lustful I feel when I am being menaced.

[followorperish]

Then should I court you?

[He will. You know he will.]

I remember...

I brought you flowers. Daily.

[Do it, Gellert, you know you want to.]

You still overestimate yourself, if you think I can be so distracted.

[But his voice is a little sadder. Yes, he remembers those flowers. He would press them in the pages of his books, where his siblings wouldn't stumble on them. On nights when they were apart, he would look at them and feel so loved, as if he had never understood what it felt like to be cherished before.]

[It would be an interesting way to take advantage of this situation.]

Is it about distraction? Or relief?

[Their relationship had been so damn passionate before the day it went wrong. He misses the more carnal acts, but not as much as the deeper aspects. However the carnal act is easier to acquire.]

I'd say distraction, since we are talking about this now instead of forgiveness for old ills.

[He can still smell the dried flowers if he thinks about them. For months after Gellert had left, he would find them still marking pages in his books, and it would break his heart every time.]

Forgiveness is slow to form - if it forms at all. But we both know you have abstained since it all happened. I could give you one night's sound sleep.

[Now that the idea is nagging at him, he will do what it takes to see it done.]

[Albus flushes red again at that, but this time a worm of bitterness twists his mouth into a wry look.]

Don't be presumptuous. It isn't as flattering as you'd hope it would be.
